Leadership Union 2008 - "In the News"
|
Census figures from 2000-2007 show Union has
experienced a population growth rate of 22%, more than any other
community in Franklin County. This rapid growth has had a direct
effect on every aspect of our community. It is our intent to be
PROACTIVE in addressing the changes taking place as a result of the
increased population and economic growth.
LEADERSHIP UNION is a community leadership program designed to ensure the continued improvement of the Union area by developing a network of leaders that possess a broader understanding of the needs and issues of the city and to increase commitment to community service and leadership. It is designed to give each participant working knowledge of our local government, education system, industrial and economic development, quality of life and volunteer opportunities. The program also provides networking opportunities for individuals seeking a leadership role in business, civic organizations or in the community. LEADERSHIP UNION is a partnership activity between the Union Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Union Community Development Department and the University of Missouri Extension.
Leadership Union is open to adult members of the community (age 18 and over) who are interested in realizing their leadership potential and have the desire, motivation and interest to serve the citizens of Union in future leadership roles. Leadership Union requires a time commitment from each participant. Leadership Union will meet twice per month, usually for 1/2 day. Orientation and the Retreat are mandatory. Class members must attend 3 of the 4 remaining sessions to graduate from the program. Tuition for the program is $175. Applicants may pay the tuition themselves or ask their businesses, civic organizations, churches, or other organizations to sponsor them. Tuition is due upon acceptance to the program. Tuition covers all program costs including meals and the retreat. |
