Organizers of the first Leadership Union said they met the goals the set out to accomplish - but will tweak the schedule for future sessions.

During the final session of Leadership Union 2008, city officials explained to the group their roles and duties, after touring city facilities.

Sherri Matthews watched the machines at Transaction Technologies as part of a tour of the plant during the third session of Leadership Union. The group also toured Rexam, Pharma Tech, the Children's Factory and heard a presentation by Bob Borgmann, president of the Union Development Corporation.

In its second leg of a tour of opportunities in the city, Leadership Union visited area emergency responders and, other service providers.

 

Leadership Union explored public and private schools Thursday, as well as higher education opportunities, in the program's first of four half-day events.

Leadership Union organizers said Saturday's retreat provided an opportunity for those enrolled to bond and focus on "positives" and "challenges" of the community.

City and Chamber of Commerce officials will kick off Union's first leadership program Tuesday.

Organizers are seeking more participants in a local leadership event designed to increase the quality of leaders in the Union area.
