Seminar Offered "Why Export"

“Why Export?” to be held June 11, East Central College, Union

In cooperation with the Export Missouri Initiative of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the University of Missouri Extension Small Business & Technology Development Center will offer a free seminar on exporting June 11 from 1-3 p.m. in Building BC 138, East Central College, 1964 Prairie Dell Road, Union.

Many businesses have misconceptions about exporting, believing it’s only for larger firms, that it’s not necessary or that the process is too complicated. The reality is that small- and medium-sized firms account for the vast majority of new exporters.  In fact, 97 percent of U.S. exporters fit into the small- to medium-sized category and more than two-thirds of exporters have fewer than 20 employees.

The seminar will cover the value of exporting as a business growth strategy, assessing export readiness, core export concepts, resources available and market expansion. If you are exploring the idea of exporting or unsure how exports can help your business grow, expand and diversify, this seminar is for you.

“This session will provide participants with a solid introduction to the world of exporting,” said Pablo Arroyo, Business Development Specialist, University of Missouri Franklin County Extension Center. “It will focus specifically on the state resource network available to help businesses evaluate, enter and expand into international markets.”

Attendance is free, but advance registration is required. Contact the Franklin County Extension Center at 636- 583-5141 or email arroyop@missouri.edu to register or for more information.

This training is funded through the Export Missouri Initiative of the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
