Emergency Management Agency

Spring2024-Feature

Our spring severe weather season is quickly approaching, and after several years of relatively quiet severe weather seasons, we can all use a safety refresher! During Severe Weather Preparedness Week, agencies and organizations across Missouri and Illinois spread awareness and information about severe weather and proper preparedness.  Learn more about Severe Weather Preparedness Week, including the statewide Tornado Drill here: https://www.weather.gov/lsx/severeweek

You'll find our social media campaigns all ready for you at weather.gov/lsx/wrnsafety. Please note that these resources are available in English, Spanish, and ASL! Please share this information with your employer, employees, coworkers, guests, and customers! Some ways you can do so:

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for the City of Union is responsible for disaster, (natural or man made) preparedness for the City of Union. The EMA works with the emergency agencies to help locate resources needed for an emergency.

The Emergency Management Agency works with the County, State, and Federal agencies in partnership with local volunteers and businesses to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from all hazards that affect the City of Union. Union EMA is the local agency responsible for coordination, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the City of Union, Missouri.

EMA develops and establishes an Emergency Operations Plan which provides guidelines for the city and during an emergency,  maintains an Emergency Operation Center that works with the first responders to help locate and provide needed resources. First Responder agencies are in command of all emergency scenes. EMA is a resource.

EMA prepares well in advance for disaster preparedness by providing essential information for tornados, earthquakes, flooding, and man-made disasters. We accomplish through CodeRED Emergency Alert system, literature, videos, and lectures.
