2/14/2024 - Concrete Street Maintenance

Road work is starting the week of February 19, 2024 on the City of Union’s Concrete Street Maintenance project. This project includes concrete street repairs and sidewalk and curb and gutter removal and replacement at various locations. Please be aware that temporary sidewalk closures and parking and lane restrictions will be required to complete the project. Please watch your speed and keep an eye out for workers in the work zone. The City’s contractor for this project is Lamke Trenching and Excavating, Inc. Please contact City Hall to report any concerns at 636-583-3600. Project completion is expected by April 2024.

Locations currently identified for repairs include the following streets: Stonebrook Dr, Brookmoore Dr, Somerfield Dr, Kensington Dr, Union Ave, and Prairie Dell Rd between Highway 50 and the roundabout.

Oak Street Improvement Project (Update 2/9/2024)

Starting Monday, February 12, the Oak Street project kicks off from Springfield Ave to Hwy 50. We're upgrading with new storm sewers, sidewalks, asphalt, and striping.

Please note: Street lights will be temporarily removed but will return to their previous location, but out of the path of travel.

Expect temporary sidewalk closures, parking, and lane restrictions during the project.

Kindly cooperate by watching your speed and keeping an eye out for workers in the area.

Project completion is expected by May 2024.

The project is a collaboration between the City, the Missouri Department of Transportation and the East-West Gateway Council of Governments using Surface Transportation Block Grant Program funds to assist in the costs of the project.

Union Expressway
The City of Union and the Franklin County Commission, as joint partners, are planning a transportation project in the City of Union on Highway 47 over the Bourbeuse River. Preliminary plans are being prepared and construction is expected to begin in 2024. More info

An "Open House" will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 - 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm at City Hall, 10 E. Locust Street, Union, MO. Handicap access is available. All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning their views on the location and design of the Union Expressway Project with reference to the economic and social effects of such location and design, its impact of the environment and its consistency with the goals and objectives of the community. The presently contemplated improvement is as follows:

Union Expressway from Mo Route 47 North to US 50

Maps, plats, Environmental Documentation, and other detail information prepared by the City of Union, or other interested agency, will be available for public inspection and copying at the office of the City Clerk at Union City Hall, 10 E. Locust. Written statements and exhibits as well as oral statements will be received at the Open House. Written statements and exhibits will be made a part of the Open House transcript if received within ten days after the date of the Open House.

Tentative schedules for easement acquisition and construction will be discussed at the hearing.

If you are disabled and require special services at the Open House, please notify the Engineering Department by April 11, 2022 at 636-583-1805 so that arrangements for those services can be made.
