Low-Income Home Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP)

lihwap-website-page-bannerLIHWAP  is a program to assist low-income households with payment of their drinking water and/or wastewater (sewer) bills. Funded by a Federal block grant program; it provides a one-time payment up to $750 per program year.

LIHWAP funding can be used to pay for the following:

  • Current Bills
  • Past due bills
  • Disconnection fees, and
  • Reconnection fees.

You may be eligible if you are the person responsible for paying your water and sewer bill, and your household meets all of the following requirements: 

 
  • If you are a Missouri resident.
  • If you are a United States Citizen.
  • If your household has $3,000 or less in your bank accounts, retirement accounts, or investments.
  • If your household meets specific income guidelines based on your household size.
