What are the Hours for the Union Parks & Recreation Summer Camp?
The camp runs from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday-Friday.
What are the sessions?
Campers can choose between one (1) of two options.
1. June – August (Full Day)
For children who do not attend summer school. Will start the first (1st) Monday after Memorial Day (2023 Season Start is June 5th) and 2023 Season End is August 18th.
2. July – August (Full Day)
For children who attend summer school and will attend camp in July and August. Campers will start Monday July 3rd , 2023 Season end is August 18th.
How are “Camp Classes” Arranged?
Campers will be in classes with grade level peer groups based on the 2023-2024 School year depending on the number of campers. (if we have two (2) Kindergartners, three (3) first graders and seven (7) second graders they could all be enrolled into a single class)
What is the Campers per Staff Ratio?
Class sizes will not exceed fifteen (15) campers with a ratio of campers to staff members at the location under normal operations to be one (1) Staff Member for every ten (10) Campers.
What is the fee per camper?
Weekly tuition is $140.0. per week.
If the camper does not attend days do, we still need to pay tuition?
Yes, weekly tuition is due regardless of attendance (not to include the two-week vacation exemption).
What is Vacation Exemption?
Families have two weeks of vacation exemption where they can have tuition fees waived. Vacation exemption dates must be used in a full five (5) day week and can be used back to back. Vacation exemptions must be submitted as part of the initial program registration.
Do campers bring lunch?
Campers will be responsible for bringing lunch and snacks daily. Camper should have all lunch and snack bags properly marked with the campers first and last name. Camp staff will have storage areas for lunch and snack bags.
Will Campers go to the Union Pool?
Campers will go to the Union Splash-n-Swimplex Tuesday and Thursdays from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. The entry fee into the pool is part of the camp tuition. Campers will not need to bring money for entry into the Splash-n-Swimplex.
What is the drop-off and pick-up procedures?
Camp begins promptly at 6:00 am. Families who arrive early will wait in line until the Camp Staff is prepared to receive Campers.
Upon arrival, parents/guardians must escort their child in to Camp Facilities located at the Large Pavilion at City of Union City Park (500 West Park) and be sure the counselor is aware he/she has arrived. The counselor will then sign your child in for the day and you may leave.
Upon departure, children are to wait in the Camp Facilities until a parent/guardian walks up to the facilities. Again you must be sure the counselor is aware you are picking up. If the teacher is speaking with another parent, please wait until they are available and can acknowledge you are leaving. You will sign out the camper and the child becomes your responsibility to supervise.
Only persons listed on the child’s information form will be allowed to sign out the child.
All persons who will be picking up will be required to be listed on Camper Registration Form. Counselors will be asking for picture I.D.’s until they become familiar with names and faces. Drop offs after 8:45am are required to call the Parks Office at 636-583-8471 and notify the time drop off and receive location that the camp will be at time of drop off.
Will Campers be required to wear uniforms?
Campers will be issued five (5) camp T-shirts and one (1) long sleeve swim shirt. Campers must wear Camp Uniform Top at all times. Campers are required to wear long sleeve swim shirt at the Splash-n-Swimplex.
What will Campers do on days with Heat Advisory?
Precautionary measures will be taken when the National Weather Service predicts the heat index to be over 105.
Families will be notified using Remind 101 app (https://www.remind.com/). Signs will be posted at the City Park Large Pavilion notifying camp families of the change in location of Pick-Up and Drop-Off.
Location of Drop-Off and Pick-Up will be 500 East Locust St. Union MO 63084. All standard drop-off and pick-up procedures will be followed. Pick up location will be City Memorial Auditorium Gym, 500 East Locust St. Union MO 63084.
What will Campers do on rainy days?
Campers will play games, activities, art projects and crafts at the City Park utilizing the Large Pavilion.
What will Campers do in situations of extreme inclement weather?
Campers will go to the Middle School Gym.
In case of severe thunderstorms or tornado watch, all events that will take campers away from the camp grounds will be cancelled.
