Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program
The program is administered through the Jefferson-Franklin Community Action Corporation (JFCAC).
LIHWAP is a program to assist low-income households with payment of their drinking water and/or wastewater (sewer) bills. Funded by a Federal block grant program; it provides a one-time payment up to $750 per program year.
LIHWAP funding can be used to pay for the following:
- Current Bills
- Past due bills
- Disconnection fees, and
- Reconnection fees.
You may be eligible if you are the person responsible for paying your water and sewer bill, and your household meets all of the following requirements:
- If you are a Missouri resident.
- If you are a United States Citizen.
- If your household has $3,000 or less in your bank accounts, retirement accounts, or investments.
- If your household meets specific income guidelines based on your household size.
