Gateway Fiber Coming to Union
One of those projects which has many residents excited about is the addition of a new highspeed internet option. Gateway Fiber has broken ground in Union and will be installing fiber in select areas of the City of Union.
Residents will be notified through door hangers and yard stakes through the construction process. Jonathan Zimmermann, City Administrator, said at a recent Union Development Corporation meeting, "...the line placements and excavation work will be disruptive at first, but will offer good choices for internet connectivity. "
James Schmieder, Assistant City Administrator for the City of Union said, "High speed internet and access to reliable networks has become a necessity for families to function and a community to thrive. What was once considered a novelty for entertainment is now considered a utility, allowing students to take online classes, parents to work from home, and small businesses to follow their dreams. We are excited to welcome Gateway Fiber to Union and look forward to working with them to provide highspeed internet to all of our residents."
